Mazatlan Bird Festival / Keynote Speaker - Peter Alden

"I’m returning to my roots in January 2009 with a series of tours out of Mazatlan, Mexico before, during and after the new Mazatlan Bird Festival"

Peter Alden pioneered bird and eco-tourism in western Mexico back in the 1960's while a student at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He wrote the first regional bird finding guide with locality maps and checklists in Latin America and contracted for 100 color paintings of western Mexico birds. Peter has gone on from Mazatlan - San Blas trips to guide over 300 pioneering bird and wildlife tours, safaris and cruises to 100 countries on 7 continents. He followed his "Finding Birds in Western Mexico" with the world's first "Finding Birds Around the World" and more recently wrote the National Audubon Society Regional Field Guide series covering 1000 plants and animals in 8 US sectors. His 15 books have sold over 1.5 million copies. He is past president of the Nuttall Ornithological Club at Harvard and is enthusiastic about getting re-involved with eco-tourism and publishing in the bird-rich shores and woodlands of Pacific Mexico.
